What Happens If a Credential Expires?

How Expired Credentials Appear and Function

If a credential has an expiry date set, the following happens once that date passes.

What the recipient sees

The credential verification page remains fully accessible after the expiry date — it is not deleted or hidden. However, it displays an Expired banner along with the expiration date, making it clear to anyone viewing the page that the credential is no longer current.

What the recipient can still do

Even after expiry, recipients retain access to their credential page and can still:

  • Share the credential link — the verification page remains live
  • Use the page to contact the issuing organisation to request a renewal or ask questions
  • View all credential details, including the original issue date and expiry date

LinkedIn and social media

Any credentials or posts a recipient has already added to their LinkedIn profile are not affected when a credential expires. LinkedIn certifications added via the one-click LinkedIn feature remain on the recipient's profile. The expiry status is not automatically communicated to LinkedIn.

Extending or reactivating an expired credential

If you want to extend the validity of an expired credential, you can update the expiry date in the Credential Details section of the campaign. The credential page will immediately reflect the new status.
